The 78-year-old mayor who married a girl 60 years his junior shared his secret

The residents of Kunhegyes witnessed an extraordinary wedding last Saturday. The mayor of the Central Hungarian village of 7,500 residents married a girl 60 years his junior. András Szabó did not want to answer Blikk’s question then, but now he broke the ice. You can read the secret of the village’s leader below.

As we reported yesterday, Mr Szabó married an 18-year-old girl last Saturday. Interestingly, the young bride already has a 4-year-old child. She became pregnant with a man in his thirties when she was only 13. Locals were divided on the subject of the wedding. Some said that an 18-year-old woman was just a girl. Others believed that love knew no limits and accepted that the mayor and the young mother were in love.

The groom, András Szabó, did not want to answer any questions, neither did his mother-in-law. However, it seems something had changed in that regard because the mayor eventually shared his secret with Blikk.

He told the Hungarian tabloid that their secret was a mutual understanding. They shared common views on many things and they chose not to bother about the age gap.

The mayor, supported by Orbán’s ruling Fidesz in the 2019 local government elections, admitted that he was too old for his wife. However, they were in love with each other. He thinks they would have some good years ahead. Many gave their blessings when they heard about the odd wedding. Others said it was not a good idea – the mayor recalled.

“We do not even talk about the age gap. We have great respect for each other. We never argued, and I think everything is, and will be fine as long as we do not have other problems“, Szabó revealed.

Blikk gathered a couple of male politicians who dated or married younger women. One of them is the former Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi (85). His former bride, Francesca Pascale, was 50 years younger than him. Following their break up, a magazine caught Berlusconi on the side of Marta Fascina (30), who he married later.

Viktor Orbán’s Cabinet Office Minister, Antal Rogán also tied the knot with a woman 20 years his junior. His wife won many beauty contests before and graduated from ELTE University. A leftist politician, Andor Schmuck (50), found temporary happiness on the side of Eszter Hanák (23). He had issued a divorce statement one year ago.

Former US President Donald Trump is also a “club member”. In 2005, he married Melania Trump, a 23 years younger former model.
